Wasted time

A friend of mine recently shared a piece of wisdom with me. This was one of those fatherly-advice moments for him as it came directly from his father.

For me it was more of a food-for-thought shared over brunch. Either way, regardless of the source or setting the advice rings true and goes something to the tune of; There is no such thing as a waste of your time, if you have learned from the experience it is exactly what got you to the point you are today and you're wiser for it.

Good stuff. I couldn't agree more with the sentiment and I have a number of past experiences that make me believe it is completely valid.

It's definitely an easier pill to swallow once you have emerged from the fog though, because while you're in the situation it feels more like being a monkey that has just been handed stereo instructions... in Arabic.

There is an upside to this but it's more evident after the challenge is over.
